Brian Hagen started teaching piano lessons in 2001. Based in his home studio in Sun Prairie, WI, lessons are available both in-person and online. He accepts students from ages five through adults, and at all levels.

Background: He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Illinois State University. Among his numerous piano instructors was Professor Julian Dawson, a world-class Mozart scholar and former studio musician at the BBC studios in London. He also studied composition with Professor Roque Cordero, an award-willing disciple of Igor Stravinsky.

Since graduation, Mr. Hagen has produced five albums in various styles including Classical, Jazz, and Adult Contemporary. His artist website is at https://brianhagenmusic.com/.

His approach to piano lessons is to customize the style for each student. Since everyone has their own levels of pacing and repertoire, it is vital to match the approach to the student’s abilities while retaining a consistency of focus. He is very patient and supportive, helping students recognize and overcome difficulties to keep their progress on a good track. Mr. Hagen’s primary goal in teaching is to provide students with skills and appreciation for music that will last a lifetime.
